Tiger 1200, the flagship ADV from British bikemaker Triumph has finally been revealed in a new-gen avatar. 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 – Powertrain

The whole Triumph Tiger 1200 range comes with a new 1160cc inline-triple cylinder engine that dishes out 150PS of maximum power at 9,000rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 7000rpm, a boost of 9PS and 8Nm from its predecessor, making it the most powerful shaft drive motorcycle in the segment. Thanks to the uneven firing order of this new engine (uses T-plane triple crank), it offers improved low-end grunt and traceability, coupled with a mighty top-end response. All that power is delivered through a new & lighter weight low-maintenance shaft drive system.

Triumph claims that the upgraded ADV is over 25kg lighter than its previous model, out of which the 5.5kg can be credited to the new frame with a bolt-on aluminium subframe. Furthermore, the use of the new tri-link swingarm instead of a single-sided swingarm and shaft drive setup helped in shedding off 1.5kg. With this, the kerb weight of the motorcycle now ranges from 240kg to 261kg, depending on the variant.

The new Tiger 1200 also gets two-point adjustability for the seat that can adjust the saddle height by 20mm. That said, both the GT and Rally line-ups have two seat height settings – 850mm & 870mm, and 875mm & 895mm, respectively. The seat height can be further reduced with an accessory lower seat.

Suspension-wise, the Tiger 1200 gets electronically-controlled Showa semi-active suspension as standard, with nine levels of damping adjustment. While the GT range runs on a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear cast aluminium set-up for dynamic road riding capability, the Rally model gets a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres for off-road domination. Braking duties are supervised by Brembo Stylema callipers, assisted by the advanced Optimised Cornering Antilock Braking System (ABS).

2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 – Design and Features

The new flagship ADV flaunts Tiger 900 like fascia, sporting reenergized bodywork, full-LED headlamp with distinctive horizontal DRLs and adjustable windshield. It also gets a slimmer fuel tank (30 litres capacity for Explorer variant) and 20mm wider handlebar than before with the Explorer variants’ handlebars set 16mm higher for a more commanding position.

In terms of features, the Tiger 1200 is equipped with a 7-inch TFT display with My Triumph connectivity, a keyless system for locking, ignition & fuel cap, six riding modes, Adaptive Cornering Lights (except GT variant), Cornering Traction Control with IMU, Triumph Shift Assist (except GT), Hill Hold (except GT), electronic cruise control, heated grips, and much more. Besides, there are some exclusive features for the Explorer variants that includes Blind Spot Radar System, tyre pressure monitoring system, and heated seats.

Triumph has also offered 50 plus accessories with the Tiger 1200 that majorly includes Triumph Track+ tracking & alarm system, centre stand, Bluetooth headsets, shift assist, fog lamps, protection gears and much more.
