As the above table indicates, the Mahindra Thar has become costlier by up to Rs 92,000, about a 2-7 percent hike in price.
With this, the Thar has now priced between Rs 12.79 lakh to Rs 15.08 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
No mechanical changes have been made to the Thar hard-core SUV. It will continue to be available with the ongoing 2.0-liter turbo petrol (150PS/up to 320Nm) and 2.2-liter diesel engines (130PS/300Nm). Both get a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. A 4×4 drivetrain is standard for both powertrains.
As of now, the Mahindra Thar hasn't any direct rival in the Indian market. But it will soon face competition with the next-generation Force Gurkha and 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
