Mahindra Reveals 5 New Electric SUVs Under Two New Sub-Brands

After tons of teasers & speculations, Mahindra & Mahindra has finally unveiled its five upcoming electric SUVs under two new sub-brands dedicated to EVs to distinguish them from its regular range of models. The first product from these electric SUVs will be launched by the end of 2024. Mahindra expects its EVs to account for 25 percent of its total sales by 2027.

Mahindra’s New Sub-Brands and Their EVs

– As mentioned above, Mahindra has announced two new sub-brands for its upcoming electric cars: BE and XUV.

Mahindra XUV.e9

– Using the iconic XUV name of its new EV sub-brand, it will offer a range of products that will carry forward Mahindra’s legacy of making prominent SUVs.

– The BE brand will target a fresh audience, while simultaneously keeping them separate from their established models with loyal fans.

– As for now, Mahindra has revealed five new products under these two sub-brands, namely XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. The initial four EVs are slated to be launched between 2024 to 2026.

All-New INGLO Architecture

– All these electrified SUVs will be based on Mahindra’s all-new Heartcore design philosophy and will underpin the purpose-built INGLO architecture that uses Volkswagen’s MEB platform components such as electric motors, battery system components, and battery cells.

– It’s a modular platform that will be used to build SUVs that will range between 4,368mm and 4,735mm in length.

– According to the brand, the break-over angle is designed to be 20 degrees, and battery clearance is to be 218mm.

– With a significant reduction in underbody weight, the INGLO features one of the lightest skateboards and high-energy-density batteries (use the LFP chemistry). It is claimed to offer class-leading safety, thrilling performance, excellent range, and superior driving dynamics.

– Mahindra will use semi-active dampers to provide a balance of pleasing ride and superior handling.

BE.07

– These EVs will follow a common battery pack design with lean modules and their battery pack will range between 60 to 80kWh. They will also support ultra fast-changing capabilities of up to 175kW. That said, they can be charged up to 80 percent in less than 30 min.

– Speaking of the powertrain, they will come in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive systems, developing a whopping grunt of 170-210kW and 250-290kW, respectively, enabling them to complete the century sprint in just 5 to 6 seconds.

– Mahindra states the 80kWh battery should offer a driving range of approximately 435km to 450km under the WLTP cycle.

– Mahindra also claims that these electric SUVs will get a flat floor for added space inside the cabin, permitting various seat configurability.

BE.05

– Products based on this architecture will feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), connected car tech with embedded 5G network capabilities, over-the-air updates support, and Vehicle-to-Lead (V2L) functionality to turn the vehicle into a portable powerhouse.

BE.05 Interior

– The carmaker has also revealed the interior design of BE range that features a futuristic minimalist dashboard layout, with notable elements including a fighter jet-like wraparound cockpit design, connected screen setup, an aircraft-styled drive selector, panoramic sunroof, and modernistic bucket seats with wraparound headrests. They will also get personalized settings for seats to ensure the utmost comfort & convenience of the passengers. It includes electrically seat adjustment, climate control, music preferences, and ambient mood lighting.
