Facelifted Ford EcoSport Spied Testing For The First Time

A few months back, Ford Motor Company has introduced the SE variant in EcoSport's variant line-up to give it a fresh feel. Now, the brand is once again gearing up to give yet another update to the sub-4-meter SUV, and this time the update will be more significant.

As the above spy shot reveals, the front design of the EcoSport will be revamped. It will feature new L-shaped LED daytime running lamps positioned around the fog lamps. Besides, there will also be a new grille and a tweaked bumper with redesigned fog lamp housing.

While no changes can be seen at the rear, the testing mule featured a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels.

The cabin of the new Ford EcoSport facelift is still under the wraps, but we assume slight changes to its interior as well. It may get a refreshed cabin theme with updated upholstery and some new features like new LED headlamps, ventilated front seats, and wireless smartphone charging that the current model lacks. However, the interior layout is expected to be retained as the current model.

As for mechanical, we believe the updated Ford EcoSport will continue to get the existing 122PS/149Nm 1.5-litre petrol and 100PS/215Nm 1.5-litre diesel engines. While the petrol engine is likely to be paired with the ongoing 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic option, the diesel unit could get a new 6-speed manual transmission considering it’s already on sale in Europe.

Currently, Ford retails the EcoSport between Rs 8.19 lakh and Rs 11.69 lakh (both ex-showroom). Its upcoming facelifted model could get a marginal price hike. Once launched, it will resume its competition with the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
