Yamaha R15 V3 To Get A New Red Color

Revealed by some leaked brochure images, Yamaha's most popular R15 V3.0 entry-level sports bike is about to get a new Red colour paint scheme. In our opinion, this new shade is among the R15's best yet. It is likely to be launched in the coming days. At present, the Yamaha R15 version 3.0 is available in three ivories option: Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Dark Knight (Black), which are priced at Rs 1.50 lakh, Rs 1.51 lakh, and Rs 1.52 lakh respectively (all are ex-showroom prices). This new color variant could cost the same as the Racing Blue color trim.

As seen in the above image, the bike sports the new Red colour on the front fairing, fuel tank, and the trim under the pillion seat. It also gets black alloy wheels with resembling red rim stickers. However, the cowl located above the headlamp is covered in contrast Grey shade. Further, it also features a black racing stripe on the fairing, somewhat similar to the Racing Blue model.

Besides the new paint scheme, no other changes have been made to the Yamaha R15. It will continue to use the same 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled Variable Valve Actuation-equipped motor that churns out 18.6PS of power at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. Power is transferred via a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. The notable features of the bike include a twin LED headlamp and tail lamp, full-LCD instrument cluster, gear position indicator, fuel consumption indicator, shift timing light, and side stand engine cut-off switch. It also gets a radial tyre at the rear for better traction.

Underpinnings of the Yamaha R15 comprises a deltabox frame hang on a telescopic front fork and preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS.

There is no direct rival of the Yamaha R15 V3.0 in the Indian market. However, the KTM RC 125 (Rs 1.62 lakh) and Bajaj Pulsar RS200 (Rs 1.51 lakh) can be considered as its only alternatives.
