Volvo XC40 Recharge Electric SUV Sold Out: Gone In 2 Hrs

The recently launched Volvo XC40 Recharge has received a tremendous welcome in India. In less than 2 hours of its launch, all 150 units of the first batch reserved for the Indian market were sold out. Its deliveries are expected to commence between October to December 2022.

Despite the fact that the first batch has been sold out, Volvo is still accepting orders for future deliveries. However, there’s no announcement about when the subsequent batch will be reaching our shores. Also, we expect the carmaker could increase the prices of the SUV for its second lot. For reference, the Volvo XC40 Recharge currently costs Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

For those who aren’t aware, the XC40 Recharge is Volvo’s first EV in India that comes with a 78kWh battery pack that vows a WLTC claimed range of 418 kilometers on a single charge. It gets a P8 twin-motor all-wheel drivetrain rated at 408PS and 660Nm. It can complete the century sprint in just 4.9 seconds before attaining a top speed of 180kmph.

Design-wise, the XC40 Recharge looks similar to its ICE counterpart save for some minor tweaks such as an EV-specific closed-off grille, new 19-inch alloy wheels, and a slightly tweaked rear bumper.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge can be seen as an affordable alternative to the Audi e-Tron (Rs 1.00 – 1.18 Cr), BMW iX (Rs 1.15 Cr), Mercedes-Benz EQC (Rs 99.50 lakh), and the Jaguar I-Pace (Rs 1.08 – 1.12 Cr).
