Volvo India Takes Petrol-Powered XC40 Off The Shelves

The petrol-powered Volvo XC40 is no longer available for sale in India, and the carmaker has ceased accepting bookings for the same. It is now exclusively offered in its electric iteration, named as the XC40 Recharge.

For those unaware, the Volvo XC40 received the facelift update last year. It was provided with a 2-litre, turbocharged-petrol engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing a combined output of 197PS and 300Nm. It was offered with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Though it was Volvo’s entry-level SUV, it still offered a lot such as pixel LED headlights, Android-based vertical touchscreen infotainment system, 13-speaker Dirac sound system, PM 2.5 cabin air filtration system, panoramic sunroof, multiple airbags, electronic parking brakes, and Advanced Driver-Assistance System that include active safety features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward & rear collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, etc.

Exclusively Electric, The Only Way Forward

Those seeking the ICE-powered Volvo XC40 can opt for its electric counterpart, the XC40 Recharge, which is currently available with huge festive delight offers of up to Rs 1.78 lakh.

Currently, Volvo retails the XC40 Recharge at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and rivals the likes of Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW i4.
