All the variants of VW Taigun have received uniform price hikes. Currently, it has accumulated over 18,000 bookings, and its select variants are bearing a waiting period of over two months. As per the carmaker, both its Dynamic Line and Performance Line trims are in high demand.

Volkswagen offers the Taigun with two turbocharged petrol engines – a 1.0-litre TSI (115PS/178Nm) and a 1.5-litre TSI (150PS/250Nm) with Active Cylinder Technology that shuts off two cylinders in low load conditions to ensure maximum fuel efficiency. With this, the Taigun 1.5-litre petrol-manual powertrain is claimed to deliver a mileage of around 18.4kmpl, whereas its DSG automatic variant returns 17.88kmpl. On the other hand, its 1.0-liter petrol unit offers an ARAI tested figure of 18.10kmpl with manual and 16.44kmpl with torque converter automatic transmission.

In the Indian market, the Taigun rivals the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Maruti S-Cross, and some variants of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus. If you’re planning to buy this VW SUV, read our first-drive review to get an idea about its strong and weak points.
