Update Alert: MG Hector Plus Variant Rejig and Price Revisions

MG Motor is aggressively updating its entire product lineup. Recently, they launched a new entry-level variant for the Astor, introduced fast charging variants for the Comet EV, and reduced the base prices of the Hector. Now, the carmaker has updated the variant lineup of the Hector Plus and revised the prices accordingly. Here are the details: –

  • Its base-spec Smart 7-seater variant has now been replaced by a new Select Pro variant, priced from Rs 18 lakh for petrol and Rs 19.60 lakh for diesel (ex-showroom). Compared to the outgoing Smart variant, it commands a premium of up to Rs 25,000.
  • It also receives a new Style variant at Rs 17 lakh, restricted to diesel-manual powertrain only. But interestingly, it is available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations.
  • The introduction of the new Style diesel variant also brings down the starting prices for the Hector Plus diesel model by Rs 2.40 lakh.
  • MG has also introduced the Select Pro 7-seater variant with the diesel powertrain option.
  • The prices for the Smart Pro and Sharp Pro 6-seater variants remained the same.
  • The 7-seater Sharp Pro variant of the SUV received a price reduction of Rs 21,000.

Engine Specifications

Mechanically, the Hector Plus remain unchanged. It continues to be offered with the same 143PS 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 170PS 2-litre turbocharged diesel engines as before, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The petrol engine also gets an optional CVT automatic transmission.

In the Indian market, the Hector Plus goes up against the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700.
