Toyota Offering A Two Years Free Maintenance Package With Upcoming Urban Cruiser

Toyota has recently announced an exclusive free-maintenance package for its upcoming sub-4m compact SUV, Urban Cruiser. However, it is important to note that only those buyers will be able to avail of the benefits who pre-book the SUV before its launch.

Termed as the ‘Respect Package’, it is a part of the company’s ‘Customer-first’ philosophy being rewarded to buyers who have invested their trust in the brand by booking the Urban Cruiser.

About the Maintenance Package

The bookings of Urban Cruiser have now been open for the past couple of weeks. As far as terms are considered, the free package will be valid either for a period of 2 years or 20,000, (whichever earlier).

The token for pre-booking Urban Cruiser has been kept at a very humble amount of Rs 11,000.

About the Toyota Urban Cruiser

Design

Toyota Urban Cruiser is a Maruti Vitara Brezza inside out and design perhaps is the only distinguishing factor that makes the Toyota offering look slightly different. The Toyota badged car borrows design elements like a front chrome grille and bumper layout from its elder sibling, Fortuner, everything else remains just the same.

Toyota Urban Cruise features

Variants

It is all set to be offered in three variants: Mid, High, and Premium. The Mid variant will be based on Brezza's mid-spec VXi trim, while the high can be expected to be built around the ZXi trim. The premium variant of Urban Cruiser will be similar to Brezza's top of the line ZXi+ trim.

Features

The equipment list that will be offered with the Urban Cruiser will be completely similar to that offered with Brezza, it means that the top-spec Urban Cruiser variant will get the features like cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity), automatic climate control, projector headlamp setup, auto-dimming IRVM, height-adjustable driver seat, etc.

Like the Baleno based Glanza, the Urban Cruiser will be offered with better warranty package, giving the car a slight edge over the Vitara Brezza.

Mechanicals

It will use the same 1.5-liter petrol engine that powers the Brezza as well. The reliable engine produces a power output of 104 HP and torque output of 144 Nm and comes paired with the option of a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Automatic transmission variants can also be had with mild hybrid systems that go light on the wallet, thanks to highly efficient economy figures.

Pricing, Rivals, and Launch

With the festive season approaching, the car can be expected to hit the Toyota dealerships soon at an expected price range of ₹8.00-11.50 Lakhs. Apart from the Brezza, it will be locking horns against the likes of Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Honda WRV, and the upcoming Kia Sonet.

Author's Take

It is pretty hard to take a Maruti on and especially if the car is completely inspired by a Maruti. Thus the free maintenance package comes across as an attractive offer to ensure Urban Cruiser does well.

Toyota is renowned for providing excellent warranties with its cars, consequently, the brand has established an image as a highly reliable and trusted carmaker in India. Offers like these help the companies in boosting their goodwills and creating credibility among the buyers.
