Shortage Of Semiconductor Chips May Affect Production At Maruti Suzuki Plants In December 2021

The country's largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki, which is facing a supply constraint of electronic components due to the global semiconductor shortage situation, has estimated that the production at both Gujarat and Haryana plants will be affected this month as well.

In its official press release, the automaker has stated that the situation is quite dynamic and we are currently estimating that the total vehicle production volume across both locations could be around 80-85 percent of normal production.

This is not the first time when the chips shortage is affecting Maruti Suzuki's vehicle production. Earlier in August and September 2021, Maruti Suzuki had stopped production for a week owing to the same reason. The production was also affected in October and November'21. In November, Maruti produced a total of 1,45,560 units (passenger + light commercial vehicles) in both its Haryana and its contract manufacturing company, Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG) in Gujarat for exports and local sales.

In other updates, Maruti Suzuki will increase the prices of its all cars from the next month. Besides, it is also expected to launch a slew of new models in 2022, including the facelifted Balenonew-gen Vitara Brezza, 5-door Jimny off-roader, facelifted XL6, and CNG-powered Swift and Dzire
