Tata To Deliver 10,000 XPRES T EVs To BluSmart Electric Mobility

Tata Motors has signed an MoU with BluSmart Electric Mobility (a public transportation firm running across Delhi NCR) to deliver 10,000 units of XPRES T electric vehicle (EV) to the company, the biggest ever EV fleet order in India. Earlier in October 2021, the company had placed orders for 3500 Tata XPRES T.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Tata Motors is taking active steps towards the rapid electrification of mobility, and it is heartening to see renowned fleet aggregators joining the green mobility wave with us. We are delighted to continue our association with BluSmart Electric Mobility as we deploy 10,000 XPRES-T EVs across the country. Our XPRES-T EV fleet offers an optimal battery size along with a captive fast charging solution and has already set benchmarks in its category. Tata Motors is constantly working towards educating and enhancing the adoption of electric mobility in India and we hope that more people join us in this journey as we mobilize the nation to #EvolveToElectric.”

For those who aren’t aware, the Tata XPRES T is essentially a commercial version of the Tigor EV that comes in two range options: XpresT 165 and XpresT 213. The former comes with a 16.5kWh battery pack that is claimed to deliver a range of 165 kilometers on a single charge, the latter gets a 21.5kWh battery and can cover around 213 kilometers. The batteries can be recharged from 0 to 80% in up to 110 minutes via a fast charger. However, a 15 Ampere AC home charger takes approximately 11.5 hours to fully juice the EV.

Since Tata XPRES T is targeted at fleet customers, it just gets basic set of equipment such as a 2-DIN infotainment system with FM, Bluetooth/Aux/USB connectivity, automatic climate control, keyless entry, power-adjustable ORVMs, all-power windows with one-touch up/down function for the driver-side window, door pockets with bottle holder, adjustable headrests for front seats, and two-driving modes (ECO & SPORT).

Safety is taken care of by dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, automatic door lock, seat belt reminder, and a high-speed alert system.
