Tata Punch To Get Multiple Driving And Terrain Modes, New Teaser Out

Tata Motors has once again teased its upcoming micro-SUV, the Punch, revealing that it will come equipped with multiple driving and terrain response modes.

While the brand hasn't shared any details regarding these modes, it could come with Nexon's three drive modes – City, Sport, and Eco to alter the sensitivity of throttle pedal and engine response accordingly. Moreover, it could also get Normal, Wet, and Rough terrain modes as the Tata Harrier, which, in conjunction with the above-mentioned driving modes, will ensure an optimum driving performance in all environments.

Earlier, the brand has also claimed that the Punch will come equipped with a host of safety features and will offer absolute safety despite its small size. It is important to note that the Punch will share its underpinning with the Altroz premium hatchback that has received a 5-star adult safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test, and the Punch is expected to offer the same safety standards. It could get dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, corner stability control, rear parking sensors with camera, and segment-first hill descent & hill start assist.

Besides, the Tata Punch will also get features like split headlamps setup, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, iRA connected car technology, auto climate control, height-adjustable driver's seat, and much more.

Powering this tiny Tata SUV could be the Altroz’s 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (86PS/113Nm) and 1.2-litre turbocharged (110PS/140Nm) petrol engines. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual as well as a 5-speed AMT. Reports are suggesting that Tata is unlikely to offer an oil burner with the Punch.

We reckon Tata to price the Punch micro-SUV from Rs 5 lakh onwards, positioning it against the Mahindra KUV100 NXT and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
