Launch in October 2021, the Tata Punch has crossed 1 lakh production milestone in less than one year. The carmaker has rolled out the 1,00,000th unit of this tiny urban SUV from its Pune-based manufacturing plant. Interestingly, it is registering an average monthly sales of around 10,000 units over the last 6 months. The high popularity of this micro SUV could be attributed to its attractive design and the 5-star safety rating that it achieved in Global NCAP’s crash test.
The Punch is powered by the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that also propels the Tiago and Tigor. It makes 86PS of max power and 113Nm of peak torque. And since the car is heavy in weight, we found it underpowered, especially on highway drives. Check out our full review here.
Tata Punch comes decently loaded with features such as an automatic headlamp, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a semi-digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, cruise control, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, and rear parking camera.

Currently, Tata Motors retails the Punch from Rs 5.93 lakh to Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the infamous Mahindra KUV100 NXT. Considering the price range of Tata Punch, its select variants could also be seen as an alternative to the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
