About Tata Nexon EV

The Tata Nexon EV is one of the best selling electric vehicles in the Indian market. It was launched in January 2020 and had crossed the 1000th unit milestone within the six months from its launch.

The Nexon EV delivers an ARAI certified drive range of 312km on a full charge. However, a real-world range of around 240km can be expected easily. It uses Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain technology which comprises a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery, coupled to a permanent-magnet AC motor that churns out a max power output of 129PS and a peak torque output of 245Nm. Its 0-100kmph sprint time is just 9.9 seconds.

The Nexon EV can be juiced up from 0 to 80% in just 1 hour with the help of a DC fast-charging system. However, an AC home wall box charger takes up to 8 hours to charge it up from 20 to 80%.

On the design and features front, the Nexon EV is identical to its ICE counterpart except for the blue color highlights on its exterior and interior, which makes its stand apart from the regular model. The key features of Nexon EV include an automatic headlamp, LED DRLs, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with android auto and apple carplay connectivity, connected car technology, a semi-digital instrument cluster with 7-inch TFT display, auto climate control, electric sunroof, height-adjustable driver seat, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, etc.

Currently, Tata Nexon EV has no direct competitor. The other two long-range EVs in the Indian market are the Hyundai Kona Electric (Rs 23.75 lakh to Rs 23.94 lakh) and MG ZS EV (Rs 20.88 lakh to Rs 23.58 lakh), which are significantly more premium and bigger in size than the Nexon EV. They also offer a better drive range when compared to Tata's offering.

Soon Mahindra will also launch the electrified version of Mahindra XUV300.
