Tata Nexon CNG Showcased At The 2024 Bharat Mobility Global Expo

The Tata Nexon CNG has finally made its debut at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi. While its launch timeline is yet to be revealed, we expect it to go on sale in the near future. Once launched, the Nexon will stand as the sole vehicle in the country to provide such a comprehensive array of powertrain options, encompassing petrol, diesel, CNG, EV, along with manual, AMT and DCT automatic transmission options.

The technical specifications of the Nexon CNG are still under wraps. However, Tata has confirmed that it will feature the brand’s signature twin-cylinder technology. This setup comprises two small CNG tanks under the boot floor, as opposed to a single large tank in other CNG modes. This allows for some usable storage space, making it suitable even for longer journeys.

Tata Nexon iCNG launch date

While the Nexon CNG may experience a decline in engine performance compared to its regular petrol-only counterpart, a distinctive feature is the potential availability of both manual and AMT transmission options. Notably, Tata has recently introduced AMT for Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG models.

Tata Nexon CNG Features

The possibility of the CNG option is likely to be confined to select variants of the Nexon, including the higher-spec Fearless trim. It comes equipped with features like automatic LED headlamps with sequential DRLs, digital driver’s display, floating touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car technology, a premium JBL sound system, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, six airbags, 360-degree camera, hill assist, among others.

Tata Nexon CNG Expected Price

We anticipate that Nexon CNG variants could carry a premium of approximately Rs 1 lakh over their petrol-only counterparts. To provide content content, the Nexon petrol-manual variants range from Rs 8.10 lakh and Rs 13.50 lakh, while the Nexon AMT is priced between Rs 11.70 and Rs 12.90 lakh. Although Tata provides the Nexon petrol with a DCT automatic transmission, it is improbable to be paired with a CNG powertrain.
