Tata Launches Dark Editions for Nexon and Nexon EV

Tata Motors has finally launched the much-awaited Dark Edition for the recently facelifted Nexon and Nexon EV SUVs, with prices starting from Rs Rs 11.45 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Tata Nexon, Nexon EV Dark – What’s Special?

The Dark Editions get a host of cosmetic enhancements both inside and outside: –

  • An all-black exterior shade.
  • Blacked-out treatment for the bumpers, grille, alloys and Tata logo.
  • Exclusive #DARK badging on the side fenders.
  • All-black cabin theme, complemented by a gloss black centre console finish, black leather upholstery and black roof liner.
  • Leather upholstery also features #DARK embossing on the headrests.

No Changes To Features List

Both the Tata Nexon and Nexon EV Dark continue to be equipped as their standard counterparts, with key highlights including a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, JBL sound system, connected car tech, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s unit, automatic AC, ventilated front seats, rear AC vents, cruise control and more. The Nexon EV, on the other hand, boasts a larger 12.3-inch infotainment unit, along with additional features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functionalities.

Regarding safety, they get six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX anchors, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, hill assist, traction control, ESC, etc.

Powertrain Options

The ICE-powered Nexon Dark is available with both 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol (120PS/170Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel engine (115PS/260Nm) choices. While the gasoline mill gets four transmission options: 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed DCT automatic, the oil burner can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT unit.

Since the Nexon EV Dark is based on the SUV’s top-spec Empowered+ LR variant, it gets a 40.5 kWh battery pack, linked to a front axle mounted PMS motor rated at 144PS/215Nm. It is claimed to deliver a range of 465 kilometres on a single charge.

Competitors

The Tata Nexon competes with popular models such as the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Mahindra XUV300, while the Nexon EV directly challenges the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
