Tata HBX Teased Officially, More Details Will Be Revealed Today

Tata Motors has released the first teaser video of its upcoming micro-SUV that is expected to launch soon. The carmaker has confirmed that it will be called HBX, which was earlier considered as the codename for the car. In fact, it will be the first time when the automaker has chosen to go with the concept’s name for the production model. More details about the SUV will be revealed on August 23, i.e., today.

Tata HBX | 1 Day To Go

Besides confirming the name of the car, the teaser also gives a glimpse of some design elements of the Tata HBX. And we must say, it looks largely similar to its concept version, showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. As a matter of fact, the production-spec version of the Tata HBX will retain 90 per cent of the concept's styling & design.

The model in the teaser video was finished in the Blue shade and featured a Tata Harrier-like split-headlamp setup with daytime running lamps (DRLs) running along the bonnet. It also confirmed the tri-aero-shaped design of its LED tail lamp cluster. The HBX SUV will be the second Tata model to be underpinned by the automaker's Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture (ALFA) platform. It is likely to be powered by 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engines (borrowed from Altroz) that deliver a maximum power output of 86PS/113Nm and 110PS/140Nm, respectively. Transmission options could include both manual and AMT units. An all-electric powertrain could also be on the cards.

Expect Tata to launch the HBX near the festive season. It could be priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and will go up against the Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and the upcoming Hyundai AX1 micro-SUV.
