Tata Could Launch Nexon EV Dark Edition Soon

Launching new cosmetic special editions is a common practice by automakers to keep things fresh and attract more sales. In a similar process, Tata Motors is gearing up to launch Dark Edition for the Nexon EV. This will surely help the company to woo the young audience. Currently, Tata offers Dark Edition with the Harrier mid-sized SUV, and they are getting a good number of sales.

The Tata Nexon EV Dark Edition is reported to get the same Atlas Black paint shade as the Harrier, along with blacked-out finished alloys and smoky tail lamps. However, we are not sure if it will continue with the signature blue highlights on the exteriors, which is exclusive to the Nexon EV.

Inside, the cabin could also feature a dark theme replacing the light beige color scheme of the standard model. It is expected to get an all-black dashboard, door trims, and seats along with a ‘#DARK’ logo, similar to the ones in the Harrier.

The changes will be limited to the appearance of the car only, and no mechanical modifications are expected. This means the Nexon EV Dark Edition will continue to be offered with the same 30.2 kWh battery pack as the standard model that powers its front-axle mounted Permanent Magnet AC Motor that produces 127PS of max power and 245Nm of peak torque, and deliver an ARAI claimed range of 312km on a single charge. However, the real-world range could be different. It supports DC fast charging and can be juiced up from 0 to 80% in 1 hour. However, it takes 8-9 hours to get 100% charged with a standard AC charger.

While the launch timeline for the Nexon EV Dark Edition is yet to be known, we suppose it to hit showrooms in the coming months. Just like the Harrier, it could be based on the higher variants only and cost around Rs 20,000 more than the standard variant. For reference, Tata offers the Nexon EV in three variants – XM, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux, which are priced between Rs 13.99 and 16.56 lakh (ex-showroom India).

In the other news, Tata dealerships have recently suspended accepting bookings for the diesel-powered Nexon's XE, XMA, XZ, and XZA+ (S) variants. These trims are likely to be discontinued. Click here for more details.
