As mentioned above, initially the XM+ trim will only be available with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox that produces 86PS of peak power and 113Nm of maximum torque. The 1.5-liter diesel engine (90PS/200Nm) will be offered later.

The XM+ is available with the four colour options: Downtown Red, Avenue White, Highstreet Gold, and Midtown Grey. The Skyline Silver colour won’t be offered in this variant.

In other news, Tata is gearing up to introduce a turbocharged petrol engine with the Altroz. It will be powered by Nexon's 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine but in the detuned state. The brand will also bring a Dark Edition of this premium hatch very soon.

Author's Take

In the premium hatchback segment, the Tata Altroz rivals the likes of Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, VW Polo and Hyundai i20, which has recently got a generation update. With this newly added trim, the Altroz stands out more strongly against its competitors than before.
