Tata Altroz Finally Gets Automatic Transmission Option

Tata Motors has finally launched a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) option for the Altroz in India at a starting price of Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). With this, it has become the first Tata to get a DCT automatic choice. Bookings for the same are already underway across the nation. Here’s a look at its variant-wise prices: –

As the above table indicates, all the Altroz DCT automatic variants command a premium of Rs 1.07 lakh over their corresponding manual trims.

It is worth noting that this newly introduced 6-speed wet-clutch type automatic transmission option (with segment-first shift-by-wire technology) is limited to Altroz’s 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill that churns out 86PS of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. The other two engine options: 110PS/140Nm 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 90PS/200Nm 1.5-litre diesel units, will continue to come with the 5-speed manual transmission only. 

Tata claims that the Altroz DCT automatic will return an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency (mileage) of 18.18 kmpl.

What’s More?

Well, Tata has also used this occasion to present a new Opel Blue exterior colour scheme for the hatchback. Besides, the brand has also introduced an ‘Auto Park’ feature for the automatic variants, which automatically shifts the vehicle to park mode if the driver forgets to do it.

With the introduction of DCT variants, the Tata Altroz will now cater to a wider section of customers. And could bother the sales of Hyundai i20 CVT/iMT/DCT, Honda Jazz CVT, Toyota Glanza/Maruti Baleno AMT, and Volkswagen Polo AT.
