Take A Sneak Peek At The Hyundai Creta Facelift Teased In Official Sketches

The facelifted Hyundai Creta has been spotted testing several times. Now, the carmaker has officially released the design sketches of the upgraded SUV in Indonesia. Interestingly, it will be the first car to be produced at Hyundai's factory in Indonesia.

If we go by the sketches, the facelifted Creta gets a partially redesigned exterior. It emphasis on the new Tucson-like front facia, featuring the Parametric Jewel LED DRLs mingling in the new front grille. There is also the newly designed headlamps and front bumper with a silver skid plate that further adds to Creta’s rugged appeal. Overall, its presence seems quite stunning with the fine details.

While the massive wheels seen in the sketch won’t make it to production, we are presuming a different design for the alloys. At the back, the taillamps and roof spoiler looks the same as the ongoing model. However, the upper half of the tailgate has been tweaked slightly as it now misses out on the LED light bar.

The Interior of the Creta facelift looks largely unchanged except for the reworked control panel of the infotainment system. It could get new upholstery options, a modern 10.25-inch digital driver display and the 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring as the Hyundai Alcazar. Besides, it would retain features like the 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, BlueLink connected car technology, in-built air purifier, wireless smartphone charging, Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, up to six airbags, hill start assist, and electronic stability control.

We do not expect any changes under the hood. The Indian-spec facelifted Creta will continue to be available with its existing engines:  a 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 115PS 1.5-litre diesel, and 140PS 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual as standard for the 1.5-litre units along with the option of CVT and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes for the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel mills, respectively. On the other hand, the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine comes with a standard 7-speed DCT. However, similar to Kia Seltos, Hyundai could introduce the 6-speed clutchless manual transmission (iMT) with the 1.5-litre petrol motor.

Prices of the new Creta will surely command a significant premium over its ongoing model which currently retails from Rs 10.16 lakh to Rs 17.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is expected to be launched in Indonesia first before heading to our shores in 2022. Once launched, it will continue to rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster, and the Nissan Kicks. The higher variants of the Creta will also face a fight from the mid-size SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector.
