Skoda Rapid Rider Variant Relaunched At Rs 7.79 Lakh

Skoda Auto India has re-introduced the entry-level Rider variant of Rapid sedan at Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to the previous Rider variant which was temporarily discontinued last year, it is Rs 30,000 costlier. Besides this, Skoda has also revised the prices of selected variants. For this price addition, no changes have been made to the mechanical or equipment list of the car.

As the above table indicates, the Rider Plus, Ambition (AT), Onyx (AT), Style (AT), and Monte Carlo have also become expensive by Rs 20,000. While the 2021 Skoda Rapid is insignificantly more costly than earlier, it still undercuts all its rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (Rs 8.31-11.09 lakh), Volkswagen Vento (Rs 9.09-13.68 lakh), Honda City (Rs 10.99-14.84 lakh), Hyundai Verna (Rs 9.02-15.17 lakh), and the Toyota Yaris (Rs 9.16-14.60 lakh) by a huge margin.  

Skoda Rapid Rider Variant – Features

As before, the Rider variant continue to get the same set of equipments such as a 2-DIN audio system with USB, aux and Bluetooth connectivity, all four power windows, auto climate control, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, tilt & telescopic adjustable steering wheel, remote central locking, rear defogger, adjustable headrests, front & rear centre armrests, and steel wheels with full-wheel covers. On the other hand, the safety is taken care by dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder, high speed alert system, etc. 

Engine & Gearbox

The Skoda Rapid extracts mechanical power from the same 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that also propels the Volkswagen Vento. This gasoline mill generates 110PS and 175Nm. While the Rider variant only comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, all the other variants also get an option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
