Skoda Rapid Matte Edition To Be Launched In Festive Season

Skoda Auto India is all set to launch a Matte Edition of its highly popular Rapid sedan around the festive season. It was first showcased as a concept model at the Auto Expo last year.

Skoda Rapid Matte Edition – What's special?

As the name suggests, the Skoda Rapid Matte Edition will get an exclusive factory-painted matte finished grey color scheme along with smoke-tinted headlamps & fog lamps and newly designed blacked-out alloy wheels. Compared to its concept model, the production-spec Rapid Matte Edition is unlikely to get a contrast red accent on the wing mirrors, doors, and boot lid. The cabin will also feature a dark theme and new upholstery.

Since the Matte Edition is likely to be based on the Rapid’s top-spec variants, it will come equipped with premium features like automatic projector headlamps with daytime running lamps, rain-sensing wipers, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start, front & rear armrest, electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, four airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (AT only), hill hold control, and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera.

The Rapid Matte variant will be propelled by the same 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine as the standard model that produces 110PS and 175Nm. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic unit.

Currently, Skoda retails the Rapid from Rs 7.79 lakh to Rs 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect its Matte Edition to demand a premium of around Rs 30,000 over its donor variant.
