Skoda Rapid Matte Edition Details Leaked Ahead Of Launch In Festive Season

Skoda will launch the Rapid Matte Edition in the festive season, which will get some cosmetic differences from the standard model. It was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. As per a leaked brochure image, the Rapid Matte Edition will come wrapped in the segment's first factory-painted matte grey shade along with glossy black-finished 16-inch alloy wheels, rear diffuser, boot spoiler, front bumper, side skirts, and ORVMs. Additionally, all the chrome elements on the sedan will be given dark therapy.

The dark theme will be carried forward on the inside as well, featuring Tellur Grey interior along with Alcantara leather seat covers. Moreover, it will also borrow the sporty-looking flat-bottom steering wheel from the sedan’s top-specced Monte Carlo variant. The features list of the Matte Edition is likely to be similar to Rapid's top-spec model. It mainly includes automatic projector headlamps with daytime running lamps, rain-sensing wipers, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry with push-button start, front & rear armrest, electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, four airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (AT only), hill hold control, and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera.

Similar to the other variants, the limited-edition model of the Skoda Rapid will be powered by the same 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that delivers 110PS and 175Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Rapid Matte Edition is likely to be based on the Style variant and could command a premium of around Rs 30,000 over its patron trim. Once launched, it will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, and 4th & 5th-generation versions of Honda City.
