After being discontinued due to stricter emission norms, Skoda is set to reintroduce diesel engine in India with the new Octavia, slated for September 2025 launch. Its return will cater to enthusiasts who prefer its strong performance and fuel efficiency. The Skoda Octavia diesel will be fully imported in India under the government’s GSR 870 rule. The brand also has plans to introduce the diesel-powered Superb in India via the CBU route.

According to the reports, the upcoming Octavia diesel will be the same model on sale in the UK. It features a 150PS 2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). Currently, internal discussions regarding its pricing are underway.
Apart from its diesel version, Skoda will also introduce the new-gen Octavia vRS in India, which will be powered by a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes out 265PS and 370Nm, and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
Expect the upcoming Skoda Octavia to be loaded with features like LED matrix beam headlights, LED tail lights with welcome & goodbye animation, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 10-inch digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, premium sound system, powered front seats with heating & ventilation funtions, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, multiple airbags and more. The vRS variant will also get lowered sports suspension, dynamic chassis control, limited-slip differential and retuned braking system for a stronger stopping power.
