Skoda Achieves A Production Milestone of 5 Lakh Vehicles In India

In a significant milestone for Indian automotive manufacturing, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has successfully rolled out the 500,000th Skoda vehicle from its state-of-the-art production facilities located in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad). This achievement underlines the Group’s long-term commitment to the Indian market and further cements its position as a vital player in Volkswagen Group’s global production network.

Skoda’s Journey In India

Skoda began its India journey with the launch of the Octavia in 2001. Since then, the company has built a strong legacy of quality, innovation, and safety with iconic models such as the Laura, Superb, Rapid, and Kodiaq, and more recently, the Kushaq, Slavia, and the upcoming sub-4-meter SUV Kylaq.

With a focus on localisation and stringent safety benchmarks, Skoda has evolved into one of India’s most trusted premium automakers.

What sets this milestone apart is its growing global impact. Vehicles and components produced in India are now playing a critical role in Skoda Auto’s international strategy. Notably, the recently inaugurated Skoda manufacturing facility in Vietnam is assembling India-made parts and kits for the local production of the Kushaq and Slavia, making India a strategic export hub. This aligns with the Indian government’s vision of “Make in India, for India and the world.”

The 500,000-unit production milestone not only marks Skoda’s success in the Indian market but also showcases the potential of Indian manufacturing on the global stage. Skoda’s journey in India reflects a blend of engineering excellence, localisation efforts, and customer-centric innovation — a combination that continues to drive its future growth.
