Royal Enfield To Enter 250cc Segment With A New Fuel-Efficient Bike

Royal Enfield is reportedly gearing up to foray into the entry-level performance segment with an all-new 250cc motorcycle. It is reported to feature a hybrid engine technology to offer a fuel-efficient package. Reports suggest that RE is in talks with CFMoto, a Chinese bike manufacturer, to source the hybrid tech. It is reported to offer a fuel efficiency of around 45-50 kmpl.

This new bike will be underpinned on the brand’s new “V” platform and will be positioned below the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, which currently retails at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This way, it might be a good option for buyers who are upgrading from basic 100- 125cc commuter bikes and are looking to enter the premium bike segment.

This new Royal Enfield 250cc will be aimed at young riders and first-time buyers who want something stylish and different from the usual sporty bikes. Most 250cc bikes in India today are sport-style bikes, but this one will stand out with its classic, retro design—something Royal Enfield is known for. In fact, except for the TVS Ronin, there aren’t many roadster-style options in the 200- 250cc segment. With this bike, Royal Enfield wants to create a new space for itself, just like it did in the 350cc category.

Even though the bike will have a modern engine, it will still look and feel like a classic Royal Enfield. The engine will be developed in partnership with CFMoto (a well-known global motorcycle brand), but all other parts—like the frame, suspension, brakes, and design—will be made by Royal Enfield.

What’s more, the new 250cc motorcycle will be almost completely made in India, with about 90% of its parts sourced locally. This high level of localisation will help keep the price competitive, not just for Indian buyers but also for global markets. Production will take place at Royal Enfield’s factory in Chennai.

With its retro looks, modern performance, and wallet-friendly pricing, this upcoming 250cc Royal Enfield is set to shake things up in the entry-level premium bike segment.
