Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Teased; Launch Likely In November

Royal Enfield has recently sent a media invitation for the ride of the highly anticipated Himalayan 450 from October 30 to November 1. So expect the bikemaker to launch the bike shortly thereafter, probably at this year’s Rider Mania. What’s more interesting is that the invitation mentions coordinates 32.2432° N 77.1892° E where the ride will take place. These coordinates belong to Manali.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – What to expect?

  • To start with, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is set to receive a new liquid-cooled engine that will be more refined and will boost its overall capacities than the existing 411cc model. Additionally, it is expected to be equipped with a new 6-speed gearbox featuring a slipper clutch.
  • The bikemaker has also revealed the exhaust sound of the upcoming ADV, and it sounds throaty and rough.

  • Design-wise, the bike will look largely similar to the existing model save for some minor cosmetic changes and features additions to enhance its overall appearance and practicality.
  • The bike will receive a new fuel tank design and revised tank braces.
  • It will also receive a long-travel upside-down (USD) fork, a swingarm-mounted rear monoshock, a new & more intuitive single-pod TFT colour display, an all-LED lighting system and bigger turn indicators.
  • Expect slight improvements in ergonomics as well.
  • Elements like spoked wheels, a front bash plate and a short windscreen are expected to be carried forward from the ongoing model.
  • While it’s not official, the new Himalayan could sit on the brand’s all-new K1 platform, which is essentially a double-cradle frame with a bolt-on subframe. It is expected to be lighter than the existing model.
  • The bike is likely to get disc brakes at both ends for anchoring duties, with a switchable dual-channel ABS.
  • Once launched, the new Himalayan 450 will go up against the BMW G 310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure.
