Planning to Buy Tata Altroz CNG? Here’s Some Important News

If you are planning to buy the Tata Altroz CNG, there is an important update you should know before making a final decision. The CNG version of this premium hatchback has recently been spotted undergoing testing near Pune. While the Altroz already offers a CNG kit with its naturally aspirated petrol engine, this new test mule suggests that the homegrown carmaker is working on a new CNG version featuring a different engine setup. That said, there are speculations regarding a turbocharged CNG version of the Altroz.

As of now, the Tata Nexon is being offered with a turbocharged CNG setup that produces 99hp of max power and 170Nm of peak torque. If the same setup is offered with the Altroz, the hatch could become a more attractive option for buyers seeking fuel efficiency without compromising on performance. However, keeping the price in check would be a challenge for the brand, as turbocharged engines already command a significant premium, and the addition of a CNG kit would further drive up the overall cost, potentially making it less attractive to most buyers. Nevertheless, it seems that with this move, Tata Motors aims to create a niche targeting buyers who seek a performance yet fuel-efficient alternative in the CNG space.

Tata Altroz CNG boot space

We expect the upcoming Altroz turbo-CNG to get a similar dual-cylinder setup as the ongoing CNG variants of the hatch to free up usable boot space for your travel luggage.

As of now, the Tata Altroz is being offered with naturally aspirated petrol, CNG and diesel engine options, with the latter being exclusive in its segment. And with the arrival of the turbo-CNG unit, it will become another USP of the Altroz.

Now, here’s a look at the specifications of its existing powertrains: –
