Ola S1 Air vs S1 vs S1 Pro: Difference Explained

Ola Electric has recently launched the S1 Air e-scooter at Rs 84,999 (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable offering from the EVmaker. Here’s take a closer look at what makes the Ola S1 Air different from its older siblings, the S1 and S1 Pro.

Design

Design-wise, all three variants of the Ola S1 lineup look identical, except for the flat floorboard, tubular metal grabrail and black-coloured panels for the lower half section of the S1 Air. On the other hand, the S1 and S1 Pro get split cast aluminium grab handles, banana-shaped floorboard and full body-coloured panels.

The Ola S1 Air and S1 are available in five colour options, whereas the range-topping variants come in as many as eleven body shades.

Underpinnings

On the S1 Air, the single-shock front suspension from the S1 and S1 Pro has been replaced with a conventional telescopic fork upfront. The rear also receives dual-shock absorbers rather than the lateral monoshock. It also gets a drum brake setup instead of the discs seen on its elder siblings.

  • The S1 Air carries over a lot of features from its premium siblings, such as a 7-inch color touchscreen TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, a dedicated mobile companion app, OTA updates support, an onboard music system, navigation, side-stand alert, all-LED lighting system, three riding modes (ECO, NORMAL, SPORT) and reverses assist.
  • The S1 Air and mid-spec S1 variants don’t feature the HYPER riding mode and cruise control.
  • Features like proximity lock/unlock, party mode, multiple user profiles, vacation mode, tamper alert, voice call assist, etc., will also be offered with the rollout of the MoveOS 3 update.

  • The difference in length, width & height is mainly due to the different types of grabrail. However, the ground clearance, seat height & seat length remain the same.
  • Owing to the smaller battery pack, the Ola S1 Air is up to 26kg lighter than its elder siblings.

  • The entry-level Ola S1 Air gets a 3.5kW rear hub-mounted motor, whereas the S1 and S1 Pro feature a more powerful 5.5kW mid-mounted motor. With this, the S1 Air takes around 4.3 seconds to complete the 0-40kmph sprint, whereas the S1 and S1 Pro do the same in 3.8 seconds and 2.9 seconds, respectively.
  • Speaking of the range, the all-new S1 Air gets a smaller battery pack of 2.5kWh, which is claimed to deliver a real-world range of around 76 kilometres in full charge, and that too in Eco mode. The S1 and S1 Pro, meanwhile, claims around 128km and 170km in Eco mode, respectively.

All prices are ex-showroom Delhi, including the FAME II subsidy. State subsidies and other benefits can reduce on-road prices further. For reference, the mid-spec Ola S1 gets a state subsidy of Rs 14,999 in Delhi, with 100% road tax exception. Therefore, the price in Delhi will be Rs 85,099 (ex-showroom).
