Nissan India has revealed claimed fuel efficiency (mileage) figures for the newly launched Tekton SUV. Being a corporate twin of the Renault Duster, the Tekton is being offered with 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine options. While the former is only available with a manual gearbox, the latter can be had with either a manual or a DCT automatic transmission. Here’s a look at their detailed specifications and claimed mileage figures: –
| Specification | 1-litre Turbocharged Petrol | 1.3-litre Turbocharged Petrol |
| No of Cylinders | 3 | 4 |
| Max Power | 100PS | 163PS |
| Peak Torque | 160Nm | 280Nm |
| Transmission | 6-speed manual | 6-speed manual and 6-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) |
| Drivetrain | Front-wheel-drive | Front-wheel-drive |
| Claimed Mileage (Fuel Efficiency) | 19.4 km/l | 17.8 km/l (manual), 18.5 km/l (DCT) |
| Acceleration Time (0 to 100 kmph) | 12.46 seconds | 9.51 seconds (manual) 9.89 seconds (DCT) |
- As is clear from the table above, the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine (100PS/160Nm) delivers the highest fuel efficiency at 19.41 km/l. That puts it quite close to the Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI MT (19.98 km/l) and the Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI MT (19.66 km/l).
- On the other hand, the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline mill of the Nissan Tekton delivers a mileage of 18.5 km/l with the DCT and 17.8 km/l with the manual transmission. This is significantly better than the claimed figures of the Tata Sierra 1.5-litre turbo-petrol AT (15.3 km/l) and the Kia Seltos 1.5-litre turbo-petrol DCT (17.5 km/l).
- However, with a claimed mileage of 27.79 km/l, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class.
- Unlike the Renault Duster, which will also be offered with a strong-hybrid powertrain option by the festive season, the Tekton skips this powertrain choice. Specifications and claimed mileage figures for the Duster Hybrid have not yet been revealed.
