New Spy Shots Of Next-Generation Mahindra Scorpio Surfaced Online

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio is in the works for quite some time now with test mules being caught numerous times. Recently, some new spy shots of the upcoming Scorpio have been surfaced online, revealing more details about its new design.

Though the spied model was heavily camouflaged, it is noticeable that the SUV features production-ready elements. Going by the spy shots, the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio will feature a six-slat vertically stacked grille, flanked by twin-barrel headlamp units that come with integrated LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). It also gets a large bumper with a honeycomb mesh air dam. While the 2021 Scorpio retains the boxy silhouette, it seems significantly bigger and bolder than the existing model.

The latest spy shots also reveal that the new Scorpio will also get a sharkfin antenna and redesigned alloy wheels, featuring a 5-split V-spoke design with rear units also getting disc brakes. The ground clearance also seems marginally increased than the current model. For reference, the ongoing Scorpio has 180mm of the shortest distance between a flat surface and the lowest point of the SUV. At the rear, the tailgate will continue to be a side-hinged unit but will feature an all-new design with an integrated spoiler and restyled vertical stacked LED taillights.

Earlier spy shots of the cabin exposed that the 2021 Scorpio will get a refreshed dashboard layout, flaunting a black-brown interior theme with silver highlights. It will also feature a panoramic sunroof for the very first time.

Other expected features onboard include a larger touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, a new instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a push-button engine start/stop with keyless entry, multifunction steering wheel, power-adjustable driver's seat, multiple airbags, etc.

Under the hood, the Scorpio is likely to retain the Thar’s 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines in a higher state of tune. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Selected variants are also expected to get a four-wheel-drive system.

new Mahindra Scorpio launch date

The new-generation Scorpio will be launched in late 2021. Expect it to carry a significant premium over the existing model, which is priced between Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 16.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
