New Maruti Suzuki Celerio Likely To Launch In September 2021

Patented images of next-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio were leaked a few days back. Now, a recent report from Business Line suggesting that the car will be launched around September 2021. Originally, it was supposed to be launched in April, but the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic forced the carmaker to postpone its arrival.

2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio launch timeline

The second-gen Celerio hatchback is likely to be underpinned on the fifth-generation Heartect platform. It will be bigger than the existing model and will carry a completely new design. Revealed by the patent images, the new Celerio will feature a more streamlined silhouette than the upright and boxy stance of the current model. An oval-shaped grille with a honeycomb-mesh pattern and a new bumper with redesigned air dam design & added details around the fog lamps will give the 2021 Celerio rousing look. It will also get droplet-shaped new headlamps, which are likely to be connected via a chrome strip.

The side and rear section will also be revised with notable elements like newly-designed alloy wheels, a slightly tapered roofline, an upright tailgate, wraparound taillamps, and refreshed bumper with creased ends.

As for the interiors, earlier spy shots have revealed that the dashboard layout will get a reworked dashboard layout dressed up in an all-black theme with grey touches. It could feature Maruti’s 7.0-inch touchscreen Smartplay Studio infotainment system with Apple Carplay & Android Auto, automatic AC, multi-function steering wheel, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, etc.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio 2021

The Celerio is expected to retain the ongoing 1.0-liter petrol engine producing 67PS/91Nm, with a 5-speed manual and AMT. It could also get the WagonR's 83PS/113Nm 1.2-liter petrol engine. Besides, it will continue to get the CNG option with the smaller capacity motor.

Expect the new Celerio to command a premium over the current model, which retails between Rs 4.66 lakh to Rs 5.91 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Santro (Rs 4.73-6.41 lakh)Tata Tiago (Rs 4.99-6.95 lakh), and the Datsun GO (Rs 4.02-6.51 lakh).

In the other news, Maruti is also gearing up to introduce a BS6-compliant 1.5-liter diesel engine, which will power the upcoming models of Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, and Vitara Brezza.
