New Mahindra XUV700 Likely To Debut On August 15; More Features Details Revealed

The all-new Mahindra XUV700 three-row premium SUV is one of the highly-anticipated launches of 2021. While the homegrown maker is yet to reveal its official debut date, a latest media report from team-bhp suggests that XUV700 could make its world premiere on 75th Independence Day this year. On the other hand, its launch could take place on Gandhi Jayanti i.e., 2nd October 2021. Interestingly, these are the same dates on which Mahindra introduced and launched the second-gen Thar off-roader last year. However, its production is expected to commence by the end of the ongoing month

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will be based on a new monocoque chassis, which will be more rigid & tougher than XUV500's ongoing platform. Unlike the XUV500 that only comes in a 7-seater avatar, the XUV700 is likely to come in both 6-& 7-seater configurations. In fact, it will also be bigger and wider than the XUV500, which will assist in creating more room inside the cabin.

With a long list of premium features of the new XUV700, Mahindra intends to set a new benchmark in the three-row mid-size SUV space. That said, the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will pack a host of segment-first features like auto booster LED headlamps (auto-levelling), electrically operated flush-fitting door handles (lower trims likely to get mechanical handles), electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, segment's largest panoramic sunroof (sky roof), Mercedes-Benz inspired twin-screen setup for infotainment & instrument cluster, personalized safety alerts, and a host of ADAS features including Driver Drowsiness Detection System.

Besides, the car is also expected to get connected car technology with built-in Amazon Alexa AI support, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, a 12-speaker Sony audio system with a subwoofer, multiple driving modes, ambient lighting, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, automatic parking brakes, forward collision warning, electronic parking brakes with auto-hold function and more. However, it has been reported that it may drop features like front-seats ventilation, a sliding function for the rear 60:40 bench seat, and heads-up display (HUD) that you can get even with a segment-below Kia Seltos.

As far as the mechanical details are concerned, the Mahindra XUV700 will be offered with the most powerful petrol and diesel engines of its segment. It is likely to be available with 197PS 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol and 182PS 2.2-liter mHawk turbo-diesel motors. Both mills will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Rumors also suggest that the XUV700 will get a 4×4 drivetrain option with select variants.

Speaking of the competition, the XUV700 will lock horns with the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and the recently launched Hyundai Alcazar. Expect its pricing to lie somewhere between Rs 15.5 lakh to Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). It will replace the ongoing XUV500 in Mahindra's current product line-up for a temporary period, which is expected to make a comeback in a new 5-seater avatar.
