Engine & Underpinnings

The Platina 100 KS is powered by the same 102cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 7.9PS of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 8.34 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The Platina 100 is capable to pull off a top speed of 90 kmph.

As far as the underpinnings are concerned, the Platina 100 uses a tubular single down tube with a lower cradle frame, suspended on 135mm hydraulic type telescopic forks at the front and 110mm spring-on-spring (SoS) Nitrox suspension at the rear, which has been claimed to provide fewer jerks on the road with potholes.

The braking duties on Kicks start variant are handled by the 130mm drum brake at the front and 110mm drum at the rear with CBS (combined braking system) as standard.

Rivals

In the 100cc commuter motorcycles segment, the Bajaj Platina 100 rivals the Hero HF Deluxe, which is priced between Rs 48,950 and Rs 59,800 (ex-showroom Delhi).
