The design of the new Swift is actually an evolution from the outgoing model. The exterior of the new-gen hatch boasts an oval-ish grille with a mesh pattern, complemented by sharper LED headlights and L-shaped LED DRLs. Additional standout features include stylish alloy wheels, and wraparound LED tail lights.

The interior of the Swift also receives a fresh update, borrowing elements from the Baleno and Fronx. However, some dashboard panels and the housing for the 9.0-inch touchscreen have been subtly tweaked. Moreover, enhanced safety features like a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and ESP are anticipated, with the latter two potentially becoming standard offerings.

New Z-Series Engine

The new Swift is expected to get the brand’s new Z-Series 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 82PS and up to 112Nm. It is claimed to offer better fuel efficiency than the outgoing 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. Globally, Suzuki also offers this new powermill with mild-hybrid and all-wheel-drive systems. However, they are unlikely to make to its Indian-spec version.

The international-spec Swift also offers both 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options, but the Indian-spec model is expected to feature a 5-speed AMT instead of the CVT, aiming to maintain affordability for the hatchback.

Expected Price and Competiton

The anticipated starting price for the new Maruti Swift is Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in direct competition with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Citroen C3, and offers an alternative to the Renault Triber sub-4m crossover MPV.
