Mini Cooper SE Pre-Bookings Open; Launch Expected Soon

Mini has commenced pre-bookings of its upcoming all-electric Cooper SE in India. Interested customers can make its online bookings for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. While the British auto giant hasn’t given a launch timeline yet, we believe it’ll come by the next month.

For those who aren't aware, the Mini Cooper SE is essentially an electrified version of the three-door Cooper S hot-hatch that comes with an electric motor, taking its charge from a 32.6kWh battery pack and delivers 184PS of maximum power and 270Nm of peak torque. It is claimed to offer a range of up to 234 kilometers on a single charge (WLTP cycle). The electric hatchback can perform a 0-100kmph sprint in 7.3 seconds before attaining a top speed of 150kmph. It also has three drive modes on offer: Green, Green+ and Sport.

Design-wise, the Cooper SE looks largely similar to its petrol counterpart save for a few cosmetical differences which include a unique set of 17-inch corona alloy wheels and optional yellow accents on the front grille, ORVMs and wheels.

Globally, the Mini Cooper SE is available in four colour options – White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey and British Racing Green.

Inside, the Mini has equipped the EV with a premium set of equipment like an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology and Apple Carplay, a digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon audio system, wireless charging, heads-up display, heated steering wheel and much more. The brand is also expected to offer multiple exterior and interior customisation options with the hatchback.

We reckon Mini to price the Cooper SE from around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
