MG Gloster Just Got Costlier By Up To Rs 80,000

MG Motors India has once again increased the prices of its flagship Gloster full-sized SUV. The price hike ranges from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000, depending on the variant. While the carmaker hasn't specified a reason for the price revision, we suspect it's due to the increasing input costs.

Let’s look at the updated price list: –

It's the third time when the brand has revised Gloster's prices since its launch in October 2020. While the prices of base-spec Gloster Super remain unchanged, the mid-spec Sharp 7-seater is the most affected with a price hike of Rs 1.4 lakh.

Even with the price hike, the MG Gloster is still more affordable than the segment-leader Toyota Fortuner (Rs 30.34-38.30 lakh), while the prices are now as par with the Ford Endeavour (Rs 29.99 – 36.25 lakh).

It is important to note that the price updation does not attract any kind of mechanical or cosmetic changes to the SUV. That said, the MG Gloster will continue to be available with two diesel engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel (163PS/375Nm), and 2.0-liter bi-turbocharged diesel (218PS/480Nm). The first two variants in the above list come with the single turbo-diesel unit, whereas all the other trims get the twin-turbo diesel motor. While both these engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, it's the twin-turbo motor that only gets an all-wheel-drive system (AWD). The single turbo unit drives its rear wheels.

Talking about the features, Gloster's long features list can even put cars twice its price to the shame. The highlights include segment-first level-1 autonomous safety features, which comprise adaptive cruise control, semi-parallel park assist, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keep assist. Besides, this premium SUV also gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iSMART connected car technology with remote control, 12-speaker premium sound system, three-zone climate control with PM 2.5 filter, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front powered seats, driver seat with massage function and memory function, wireless charging pad, 64-colors ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, etc.
