MG Expands ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ Program to Comet EV and ZS EV

Introduced with the launch of the MG Windsor EV, the Battery as a Service (BaaS) program has now been extended for the Comet EV and ZS EV as well. Having said that, you can now purchase these EVs at a lower upfront cost and pay for the battery separately on a pay-per-usage model.

  • With the BaaS rental program, customers can now purchase the MG Comet EV at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with a battery rental of Rs 2.5 per km. On the other hand, the flagship ZS EV is available from Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with a battery rental of Rs 4.5 per km.
  • The BaaS program is backed by finance partners like Bajaj Finserv, Hero Fincorp, Vidyut, and Ecofy Autovert.
  • It is worth noting that you can’t get financing from your preferred provider. You must use the partners MG has tied up with for the full package. However, if you want to sell the car before the end of the term, you can do so by paying off the remaining balance on the car and the battery.
  • MG has partnered with various finance providers in this program, most of which do not require a minimum monthly distance. However, one partner has a minimum usage condition of 1,500 km per month, while the plan with Vidyuttech charges you based solely on the kilometres you drive.
  • A telematics device will be installed in the vehicle to track the kilometres you drive each month, based on the different programs offered by the finance partners. It’s a good idea to check the specific terms from each financer to find the best option for you.
  • Along with the rental program, MG is also offering a BuyBack scheme, under which 60% buyback value will be offered after three years, ensuring a smooth and confident ownership experience.

Given the strong response to Windsor under the BaaS program, we are now extending its benefits to our popular EV models, the Comet and ZS. I am confident that this unique ownership model will further boost EV adoption in the country.”
