McLaren To Hit Indian Market; Will Open Its First Retail Outlet In Mumbai

British luxury carmaker McLaren has announced its official entry into the Indian market. The brand will open its first retail outlet in Mumbai in October 2022. Adding India to the global McLaren marketplace makes it the 41st country.

Commenting on this announcement, Paul Harris, Managing Director (APAC and China), McLaren Automotive, said, “We welcome Lalit Choudary of McLaren Mumbai to the expanding retailer network here in the Asia Pacific region. India remains an important market where our fans and select clientele can enjoy the best of McLaren in Mumbai. Looking ahead, we will shortly welcome the Artura to India, the all-new high-performance hybrid supercar.”

A wide range of McLaren Automotive production series vehicles will be offered in India as completely built-up units. These will include the GT, the new hybrid-powered Artura, and both coupe & roadster versions of the 720S and 765LT.

The low-slung McLaren Grand Tourer (GT) comes with 620PS 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, allowing it to clock the century sprint in merely 3.2 seconds before attaining a top speed of 326 km/h. The 765LT, on the other hand, is a bit faster with its 765PS/800Nm 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It can do the 100 km/h sprint from a standstill in only 2.8 seconds.

Speaking of the McLarenArtura, it comes with an all-new 3-liter, V6 turbocharged petrol mill, mated to an 8-speed auto ‘box and plug-in hybrid system, with a century sprint time of just 3 seconds and a maximum speed of 330kmph. It can also be driven in pure electric mode as well for up to 30 kilometers.

Once launched, the McLaren supercars will go up against the high-performance motorcars from the house of Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari in India.
