If reports are to be believed, the upgraded Maruti WagonR will get mild cosmetic tweaks to its exterior in the form of new paint schemes, redesigned bumpers and alloy wheels. It could also receive new fabric upholstery to make things fresh inside the cabin.
In terms of features, Maruti is likely to offer the engine start/stop function and hill hold assist system with AMT variants of the WagonR. While the former reduces the fuel consumption and emissions of the car, the latter holds the vehicle for a few seconds from rolling backward when you shift from the brake to the acceleration pedal on hilly/incline areas.
Besides, it will retain features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, power-adjustable & folding ORVMs, manual AC, all-four power windows, keyless entry, steering-mounted audio & calling controls, etc from the ongoing model.
Under the hood, the 2022 Maruti WagonR is unlikely to get any changes. It will continue to be available with two petrol engine options: 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder (68PS/90Nm) and 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder (83PS/113Nm). Both mills can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. An optional factory-fitted CNG kit will also be available with the 1.0-liter engine (59PS/78Nm), paired with a 5-speed manual transmission only.
