In a bid to remain competitive in the market, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce an ADAS-equipped Grand Vitara in the first quarter of the upcoming financial year. The Grand Vitara-rivaling MG Astor, Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos currently have an ADAS suite in the mid-size SUV segment.
Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki had intended to launch the ADAS-equipped Grand Vitara in the third quarter of this year, but the plan was delayed due to the shortage of semiconductors and other components.

For those unaware, the ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistant System. It is essentially a pack of various active safety features that uses various sensors, radar and cameras to provide feedback to the driver and, in some cases, take limited control of the vehicle to prevent accidents, providing the safety of the driver, passengers and surrounding vehicles and pedestrians.
Speaking of the current safety suite, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara packs six airbags, ABS with EBD, a heads-up display, electrochromic IRVM, electronic stability control, hill hold & descent assist, 3-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX anchors, all-wheel-disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree surround view system, and an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS).
