Maruti Ciaz-Based Toyota Belta Spied Undisguised Ahead Of Launch

The LHD (left-hand-drive) configuration models of the Maruti Ciaz-based Toyota's upcoming Belta sedan have been spotted at a port for export, revealing that the brand has started its mass production. It will soon be launched in India as a replacement model for the recently discontinued Yaris sedan

Going by the spy images, the Toyota Belta looks exactly similar to the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz except for the Toyota logo and 'Belta’ badging at the rear. Unlike the Toyota Urban Cruiser and Glanza which are also cross-badged versions of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Baleno, the radiator grille of the Belta is identical to its donor vehicle, which is quite disappointing. The features list and cabin design of the Toyota sedan are also likely to be the same as Ciaz, except for probably a different upholstery.

The features highlights include automatic LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, height-adjustable driver's seat, front & rear central armrests, auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability program (only for AT), and rear parking sensors with camera.

Under the hood, the Toyota Belta will also house the same 1.5-liter petrol engine (105PS/138Nm) as the Maruti Ciaz, paired with a mild-hybrid system for additional torque assistance. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic unit.

Toyota is likely to launch the Belta around the festive season. On its arrival, it will go up against the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
