Mahindra XUV700 Production Likely To Commence In July; Launch Expected Around August

We all know that Mahindra is gearing up to launch the all-new XUV700. We have spied the SUV several times in the past during testing. And now, a leaked image from Mahindra's Chakan (Pune)-based plant has suggested that the carmaker will start its production by end of July month. That means it could be launched in August 2021.

For those who aren't aware, the XUV700 is a 7-seater premium mid-sized SUV that will replace the aging XUV500 in Mahindra's line-up. However, the XUV500 nameplate will be returned in the future, albeit in a 5-seater avatar to rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier.

Based on the new W601 monocoque platform, the Mahindra XUV700 will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines along with a bunch of segment-first features like Mercedes-inspired twin-screen setup, memory function for the driver's seat, and level-1 autonomous technology, which is expected to include several advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and more.

The other notable features of the XUV700 will be panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, electronic parking brakes with auto-hold function, multiple driving modes, connected car technology, flush door handles, leatherette upholstery, multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control, traction control, etc.

Under the bonnet, the XUV700 is expected to employ Thar’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engines, but in a higher state of tune. Both engines are likely to be available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions choices along with an optional all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Expect the XUV700 to be priced between Rs 16 lakh to Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it against the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and recently launched Hyundai Alcazar
