Mahindra Thar Waiting Period Extending To 16 Months

Are you considering buying a new Mahindra Thar off-roader? Well, the SUV continues to be in high demand despite the carmaker has increased its production. This will lead to you facing a substantial waiting period. Here are the details: –

  • Currently, Mahindra Thar boasts an extensive waiting period of up to 16 months, especially for its 4×2 rear-wheel-drive diesel variants. However, the petrol-powered 4×2 trims have a shorter waiting time of up to five months.
  • If you plan to go with its off-road capable 4×4 trim, you’ll still have to wait up to six months.

For those who aren’t aware, the Mahindra Thar comes with three engine options: – 1.5-litre diesel, 2-litre mStallion petrol and 2.2-litre diesel. While the smaller oil burner only gets a 4×2 drive system, the larger displacement diesel mill features a shift-on-the-fly 4×4 drivetrain (4WD) with a manual-shift transfer case as standard. On the other hand, the petrol engine comes with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options.

Speaking of their pricing, the Mahindra Thar 4×2 RWD variants currently range between Rs 10.54 lakh and Rs 13.49 lakh, whereas its 4×4 variants start from Rs 13.87 lakh and go to Rs 16.78 lakh.

In the compact SUV segment, the Mahindra Thar rivals like Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
