Mahindra Temporarily Stops Bookings For The Alturas G4 RWD Variant

  • Global supply issues have affected Mahindra’s ability to meet the demand.
  • No assurance on when the bookings will reopen.

Mahindra Automotive has stopped accepting bookings for the base-spec rear-wheel-drive (2WD/RWD) variant of the Alturas G4 due to global supply chain issues. Therefore, the full-size SUV is currently available only in 4X4 version, which currently costs Rs 31.88 lakh (ex-showroom), approximately 3 lakh more than the 2WD trim.

For those who aren’t aware, there isn’t any significant difference between the 2WD and 4WD versions of the Mahindra Alturas G4. Both the trims come equipped with a host of premium features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, heated ORVMs, ventilated front seats, keyless entry with push-button start, 8-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, Quited Nappa leather upholstery, 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, ESC, traction control, hill start/descent assist, active rollover prevention, brake assist, ISOFIX mounts and more.

The range-topping 4WD trim, on the other hand, also gets automatic HID headlamps, LED cornering fog lamps, memory function for the driver’s seat & ORVMS, an electric tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, 7-inch MID, mood lighting, 9-airbags, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

At the heart of the Mahindra Alturas G4 is a 181PS/420Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine, paired with a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 7-speed automatic transmission. In the full-size SUV segment, it goes up against the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, Isuzu mu-X, and the petrol-only Skoda Kodiaq.
