Nikhat Zareen, the winner of the “Emerging Boxing Icon” award, received an all-new Thar as part of Mahindra’s commitment to supporting women in sports.
The handover was done at the 2023 IBA Women World Boxing Championships, which was overpowered by Indian players. Having said that, eight Indian boxers were in the quarterfinals, and four qualified for the medal rounds. India tops the medal tally among the 63 nations winning 4 gold medals.
Mahindra has also announced to launch the “Road to Gold” initiative in association with the Boxing Federation of India (BFI). It is aimed to reveal the journey of individual boxers to inspire other young women to pursue their dreams in sports.
Commenting on this occassion, Veejay Nakra, President – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are thrilled to associate with the Boxing Federation of India in their efforts to promote women’s boxing in the country. Through this felicitation, we aim to encourage emerging sports talent in the country to win more accolades for India at the global level, bringing honour to our country. We also believe that the ‘Road to Gold’ initiative will inspire many young women to pursue their dreams.”
