Mahindra Bolero Neo Gets An Aftermarket Infotainment Due To Semiconductor Shortage

The shortage of semi-conductor chips due to the worldwide COVID-19 lockdown has gripped the automotive industry badly. As a result, we have experienced a number of adverse effects over the past months. And now there is news from Mahindra that the second-to-top N10 variant of the newly launched Bolero Neo will be available with a new aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the ongoing 7-inch unit. For this, the brand has tied up with Kenwood Corporation. Mahindra has stated that the current bookings for the Bolero Neo N10 variant will also come with a new Kenwood touchscreen infotainment system.

The Kenwood infotainment for the Bolero Neo N10 measures 6.8-inches and comes with Bluetooth, radio, AUX, and USB connectivity. It also supports the steering-mounted controls of the car. However, it misses out on Mahindra’s Bluetooth-based BlueSense app support. Also, unlike the 7-inch infotainment unit available with the top-spec N10 (O) variant, it won’t display vehicle information and alerts like fuel meter, car info, door/bonnet open alerts, and DRL on/off controls, etc.

No other changes have been made to the N10 variant of the SUV. It will continue to come with all the other existing features that mainly comprises static bending headlamps with follow-me-home function, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, armrests for front & rear seats, height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, ISOFIX child seat mounts, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner Braking Control (CBC), engine immobilizer, seat belt reminder, high-speed alert, and reverse parking sensors.

The Bolero Neo is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS/260Nm), paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels of the car. Its range-topping N10 (O) trim also comes with a mechanical locking rear differential, making it slightly off-road capable.

Currently, the Mahindra Bolero Neo ranges from Rs 8.77 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), placing it against the monocoque sub-4-meter SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Honda WR-V.
