Land Rover Defender Gets Diesel Variants, Price Starts From Rs 94.36 Lakh

Land Rover India had launched the Defender SUV back in October 2020. While it was only available with a petrol engine, the brand has now introduced a diesel engine option in its India lineup. The diesel version of Land Rover Defender is available with both 3-door and 5-door models across four variants – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE, and the newly added X trim. Here's the detailed pricing: –

The Defender diesel is priced between Rs 94.36 lakh and Rs 1.08 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), making it up to Rs 14.46 lakh more expensive than the petrol trims. Powering the diesel model is a D300 3.0-litre inline-six diesel motor that produces 296bhp at 4,000rpm and 650Nm of torque between 1,500-2,500rpm. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that transmits the power to all wheels via an all-wheel-drive system (AWD). The diesel Defender has a top speed of 191kmph and the sprint time for 0 to 100kmph is just 6.7 seconds for Defender 90 and 7 seconds for Defender 110.

In terms of features, the Defender diesel gets all the whistles and bells as their petrol-powered trims. The notable features include a 10-inch touchscreen PIVI PRO infotainment system with OTA support, connected car technology with remote control and navigation pro, Apple carplay, and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, 14-speaker 700W Meridian sound system, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a head-up display, three-zone climate control, heated and cooled seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, 20-inch alloy wheels with off-roading tires, 6 airbags, a rear pre-collision monitor, blind spot assist, a speed limiter, ABS, traction control, driver control monitor, wade sensing (provide real-time pictorial information about the water depth when wading), blind spot assist, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, 360° surround camera with 3D exterior perspectives, and many more.

Currently, the Land Rover Defender doesn’t have any direct rival in the Indian market. However, the Jeep Wrangler can be considered its close off-roader competitor.
